-The Swiss artist Paul Klee made hand puppets for his son Felix while he lived in Munich (1916-1921). He was also a frequent patron of the Schelling-Salon, a Munich landmark saloon and pool hall and legendary hangout of Rilke, Kandinsky and Vladimir Lenin.
-And now I find myself and fellow artist Katja Jungwirth frequently stepping into the same pool hall for a beer and pommes frites and talking about art (and Klee’s puppets) and watching the regulars shoot pool for hours.
-And so inspired, I had to create a puppet this morning, a scary harmless rabbit puppet made from tea-stained canvas & wire, thread & paint.
